These docs are a bit ambitious. The steps described are accurate but IronPLC cannot yet run programs.

Update

There is normally a new IronPLC release every Monday. There is no automatic mechanism to distribute updates.

Update Steps

Follow the steps below to update IronPLC.

Update IronPLC CLI

  1. In search on the taskbar, enter Control Panel and select it from the results.

  2. Select Programs ‣ Programs and Features.

  3. Right-click (or press and hold) on IronPLC and select Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

  4. Download the latest IronPLC installer from IronPLC GitHub releases:

  5. Run the installer and follow the prompts to complete installation of the CLI.

Update IronPLC Visual Studio Code Extension

  1. Download the latest IronPLC Visual Studio Code Extension ironplc-vscode-extension.vsix from IronPLC GitHub releases.

Run Visual Studio Code, then in Visual Studio Code:

  1. Go to the Extensions view by clicking on the Extensions icon in Activity Bar on the side of VS Code or using the View: Extensions command (Ctrl+Shift+X).

  2. In the Extensions view, select … (View and More Actions) ‣ Install from VSIX… button.

  3. In the Install from VISX dialog, select the VISX file you downloaded earlier.

Update IronPLC CLI

  1. In a Terminal, enter brew update, then enter brew upgrade ironplc.

Update IronPLC Visual Studio Code Extension

  1. Download the latest IronPLC Visual Studio Code Extension ironplc-vscode-extension.vsix from IronPLC GitHub releases.

Run Visual Studio Code, then in Visual Studio Code:

  1. Go to the Extensions view by clicking on the Extensions icon in Activity Bar on the side of VS Code or using the View: Extensions command (+Shift+X).

  2. In the Extensions view, select … (View and More Actions) ‣ Install from VSIX… button.

  3. In the dialog, select the VISX file you downloaded earlier.
